In the animal health and nutrition industry, it’s common knowledge that the Greater KC area is the national leader. In fact, KC area companies account for nearly 32% of total sales in the $19 billion global animal health market.
With regard to the petfood products industry, the worldwide sales for petfood products in 2007 at retail level were $49 billion and, according to Brakke, KC companies represent 7%. U.S. sales for petfood products were $17 billion of which KC companies represent 13%.
That’s right. The Kansas City region is America’s Animal Health Corridor. Companies and universities in our area lead the nation in animal health and nutrition research, innovation, business functions and production.
