Fintan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of IVX Animal Health, Inc. in May 2005. IVX Animal Health, Inc., a newly formed animal health company made up of Phoenix Scientific, Inc. and DVM Pharmaceuticals, is a wholly owned subsidiary of IVAX Corporation which was acquired by Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. in January 2006.

Fintan joined Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. in February 1990 as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In January 1993, he was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., USA.

Fintan was President and Chief Executive Officer of Coopers Animal Health, Inc., (jointly owned by Wellcome and ICI) for North America from 1982-89. He remained in this position until Coopers was acquired by Pitman-Moore/I.M.C. in 1989.

From 1975 to 1982, Fintan resided in the Republic of Ireland and was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wellcome Ireland, Ltd., which included subsidiaries; Coopers, MacDougall, Robinson’s Ltd. and Calmic Limited. His career spanned all areas of responsibility in human and animal health operations in Ireland. He started his career as a Sales Representative at Nicholas/British Schering in 1967 and joined Wellcome Ireland, Ltd. in 1969.

Fintan is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland graduating from the College of Pharmacy, Trinity College; Dublin, Ireland. He received an Honorary Fellowship from the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland in 1984.

Fintan is currently serving on the Board of the Institute of Industrial and Applied Life Sciences and on the Advisory Board of the Animal Health Corridor. He has also served on several boards including the Federation of Irish Chemical Industries, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Animal Health Institute from 1983 to 2001. Fintan was Chairman of the Animal Health Institute 2000/2001. In 2001, he was awarded the Majon Huff Award for Lifetime Achievement for Outstanding Services to the Animal Health Industry by the Animal Health Institute. While President of Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., Fintan received the 2001 Manufacturer of the Year Award from the St. Joseph, Missouri Chamber of Commerce.

Fintan received the American Veterinary Distributors Association Lifetime Achievement Award in April 2009 and also received the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor Iron Paw Award in August 2009. In April 2009 he retired as President and CEO of Teva Animal Health Inc.
